How to teach Advertisement?

 Advertisement is undoubtedly becoming something crucial nowdays, as we may use it to find informations of many kinds. That's why, material of learning about advertisements is included in the curriculum of English Subject. Despite the importance and the benefit the students will gain from a good capability in comprehending and finding information provided in an advertisement, teachers often find difficulties in creating a good way or technique in teaching advertisement.
The followings are some steps I adopt to teach advertisement that may help other teachers to deliver the material in a more enjoyful and various activities.
First, ask your students to find an example of an ad from an English news paper, magazines or internet.
Then, ask them to discuss it in pairs what is the content of the advertisement by making some translation into Indonesian to help them understand it well.
After that, we should go around the class to help the students understand the ad better as we know that ad ids using simplified sentences which need the students to dig deeper about the "hidden information"
Next, give the students time to read the ad aloud in front of the class to make sure that they are able to read the punctuations, abrreviations, and numbers, etc written on the ad.
The following is don't forget to give them some questions that they can answer it using their mother tounge language about the ad they read  to make sure that they make a correct comprehension about the ad, such as, what is the ad about, where can we get the product, etc. This kind of question is necessary for I had once  a funny experience when one of my students. At that time, She read an ad about a Buddhist Conference, but when I asked her what the ad was about, she answerd that it was about Budhhist Secretariat as she read in the bottom text : To get more information, contact the Buddhis Secretariat ....bla bla bla.
